SHOP RVA is a new coalition of varied community stakeholders. Shop RVA works to promote and preserve the culture and uniqueness of the Greater Richmond area by encouraging all to heavily support locally owned businesses.

On March 19th, 20th, and 21st of 2010, Shop RVA will launch Greater Richmond’s First Annual Shop Richmond Weekend; a celebration of Greater Richmond’s locally owned businesses. During this weekend, Shop RVA will encourage visitors and residents to exclusively support Greater Richmond based businesses. Shop RVA will promote local businesses along with Shop Richmond Weekend via all available traditional and grassroots media and community outlets.

The vision of Shop RVA is to have Richmond’s economy be shaped by a skilled workforce, entrepreneurship and healthy competition between a wide variety of businesses. >

The mission of Shop RVA is to enhance the image and profitability of Greater Richmond based businesses by identifying our local businesses and informing the Greater Richmond residents about the numerous benefits of shopping local.

We are committed to deciding, communicating, and acting openly and honestly with all community stakeholders.

Collaboration:
We pledge to seek active partnerships with Greater Richmond’s very diverse community. These partnerships may include, but never be limited to local small business, local large corporations, merchant associations, chambers of commerce, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, educational institutions and of course community volunteers.

Internship:
We foster and promote continuous growth and learning for Greater Richmond’s youth and young adults through volunteering, internship, and apprenticeship opportunities.
