ShopRVA is determined to have the City of Richmond publicly and financially support Shop Richmond Weekend, an annual celebration of Richmond's locally owned businesses.

During Shop Richmond Weekend, residents and visitors of the Greater Richmond area are urged to exclusively shop at locally owned businesses.

By making Shop Richmond Weekend a very successful annual event we will jump start a culture of shopping local. By shopping locally we spur innovation and entrepreneurship, preserve and enhance Richmond's unique culture, and increase the city's tax revenue. The additional taxes that we generate will fund Richmond Public Schools and the city's infrastructure. Shopping local also protects the environment, helps reduce crime, builds community and create jobs.

• For every $100 spent in locally owned stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll, and other expenditures. If you spend $100 in a national chain, only $43 returns to the community. Now, if that is spent online with a national chain nothing returns to our community.1 Imagine the impact we could have on the economy and welfare of Richmond if we did the majority of our shopping with Richmond's locally owned businesses.

The Shop RVA Internship Program offers students hands-on experience working on tasks and projects under the mentorship and coaching of Richmond's entrepreneurs. Student interns will gain an appreciation for entrepreneurship and an opportunity to explore career possibilities.
